ASK - Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge

The Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools project has been commissioned by the National Apprenticeship Service, part of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), to support the Government’s target of achieving 3 million apprenticeship starts by 2020. Through the project our three Delivery Partners will offer a range of inspirational and engaging apprenticeship and traineeship support to all learning establishments offering provision to years 10, 11, 12 and 13 across four regions: North, Midlands, London and South.

The project aim is to work with teachers, careers advisers, parents and governors, alongside other key partners, to support schools and ensure that they meet their statutory duties regarding the provision of impartial IAG, specifically in relation
to apprenticeships and traineeships.

The services provided include:
• Group assemblies / information sessions
• Sessions to sign students up to Find an apprenticeship
• Apprenticeship application workshops for smaller groups of students
• Apprenticeship events
• Apprenticeship champion training for careers advisers and teachers
• Guest speakers – apprentice and employer ambassadors
• External visits
• Staff (teacher and governor) CPD
• Parents events

Additionally, if an establishment has a particular request, this can be negotiated and agreed. We are also growing a network of 1000+ apprenticeship champions in schools across England. Our network of inspiring teachers and careers advisers, with our expert support, will:
• Positively promote and encourage students of all abilities to consider apprenticeships
• Create opportunities for students to engage with employers and apprentice ambassadors
• Keep up to date with the latest developments and opportunities
