UK Space Design Challenge

The Space Science and Engineering Foundation (SSEF) is inviting female only teams from the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to take part in the UK Space Design Challenge (UKSDC) on Saturday 25 November 2017 at the University of Derby. The UKSDC is a science and engineering challenge designed as a simulation of life in industry. Teams are given a list of requirements for a space settlement and have a day to produce a detailed design which they present to a panel of judges who are experts in the field of science and engineering. The challenge is open to secondary and sixth from students (Years 10-13).

The winning teams of this regional challenge will take part in the UKSDC Final held at Imperial College London with the chance to win a place at the International Space Settlement Design Challenge held at the Kennedy Space Centre, NASA, Florida.

The challenge starts at 8.30 am and finishes at 9.00 pm. There are no entry fees and for more information and registration, please visit

The whole programme culminates in a Final in March at Imperial College London. The judging panel includes representatives from UK Space Agency and NASA. It is funded by SSEF and we rely on grants and donations to help us pay for costs. We pay for accommodation and meals during the Finals and flights, airport transfers. accommodation, meals and a trip to Orlando in NASA.

The only cost we can't cover is travel to London for the UK Final
