There is wide consensus that the role of Careers Leader is central to building capacity, improving the quality of career education and guidance in schools and the whole school improvement agenda. With this in mind CDI are offering a new qualification through the CDI Academy: the CDI Level 6 Certificate in Careers Leadership which comprises three units:

1.Plan and design career-related learning programmes;
2.Lead and manage career development work in an organisation;
3.Continuously improve career development work in an organisation.

Taught days
Attendance at one training day for each of the units is required. These will be led by experienced career development professional, Kath Wright. The days will cover the knowledge and skills which need to be evidenced to demonstrate competence. At the first training day candidates will also meet their Assessor who will provide ongoing support for the production of candidate evidence prior to assessment. All candidates will receive a bespoke workbook for each unit; the opportunity to attend specific CDI webinars; join a Community of Interest for Careers Leadership candidates and the chance to hear talks as part of the training days from national experts. Initially the training days will be delivered in central Birmingham. Training for Cohort 2 will start on 10th October and for Cohort 3 on 16th January. However we can deliver locally if 10 or more candidates wish to undertake the qualification in a particular location.

Costs and Booking
Each unit costs £305 plus VAT and can be taken as individual certificated units or as all three units in order to be awarded the certificate, cost £915 plus VAT. The costs cover: the training day, assessment, internal and external verification, registration and certification with OCR and registration and use of OneFile, the online portfolio system we are using. If space allows it may be possible for individuals to attend the training days without pursuing the certification. Booking is via the CDI website.
