D2N2 Careers Local Enterprise Grants

Careers Local Enterprise grants of up to £10,000 are available for a range of educational institutions across Derby City, Derbyshire, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.

The grants are available to support to 15 to 19 years old at risk of becoming Not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) to increase their employability skills and chances of participating in further education.

The grants are funded through the European Social Fund and the Skills Funding Agency.

Educational institutions across Derby City, Derbyshire, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire are eligible to apply for a grant subject to meeting certain conditions explained in the key facts guide.

What can the grant be used for?

Grant can be used to:

  • implement the D2N2 Employability Framework and fund an integrated employability offer to educational institutions including increased information through careers guidance to young people about key sectors and career pathways

  • establish, extend and deepen engagement with local businesses

  • increase young people understanding of local careers opportunities by extending, increasing and linking with existing Careers Service provision

  • foster enterprise and entrepreneurial behaviour

  • deliver local competitions and events.
  • Alternative options can be developed by any educational institution applying for the funding. However, suitable evidence of the outcomes must be provided.

    How to apply

    Educational Institutions can apply for a grant by completing the application form Word.

    All applicants are advised to read the guidance PDF and frequently asked questions PDFprior to making an application.

    Applications received after the deadline will not be considered but will carried forward to the next application window. Application windows will be 6 March to 31 March 2017 and at least two further application windows in June and September 2017.

    Nottinghamshire County Council has procured a list of quality approved providers PDF who will be able to help you implement your planned activities.

    The European Social Fund

    The project is receiving up to £1,731,676 of funding from the European Social Fund as part of the 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England.

    The Department for Work and Pensions (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for the England European Social Fund programme.

    Established by the European Union, the European Social Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support skills development, employment and job creation, social inclusion and local community regenerations.
