Closing date looms for Chamber’s business awards

Posted on May 10th, 2017

The closing date for the region’s only pure business-to-business awards is looming.

Entries to the Chamber's Business Awards must be in by 19 May.

The Chamber’s Business Awards are the only ones locally that offer winners a chance to compete in regional and national heats of the British Chambers of Commerce Awards.

Last year, East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire) proudly won the Excellence in International Trade Award from the British Chambers of Commerce.

Six Chamber members, each of them winners in the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards and regional winners of BCC Awards, were shortlisted for national accolades: Trent Academies Group for Education and Business Partnership, Hayles Leicester for Commitment to People, Cathelco for Export Business of the Year, Purpose Media for High Growth Business of the Year, Shakespeare Martineau for Excellence in Customer Service and Penny Hydraulics for Best Use of Technology.

David Pearson, the Chamber’s Director of Partnerships and Membership Services, said: “You can’t overestimate the value of being part of our Business Awards. Not only does it give companies a chance to promote themselves on local, regional and national platforms, but there is also huge kudos in being shortlisted for an award and even more for winning one.

“The Chamber’s Business Awards are the only ones where entries are judged purely by the business community.”

The Chamber’s Business Awards will be held on a county-by-county basis, culminating in black-tie gala dinners in the autumn in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, at which the awards will be presented.

The winners in specific categories will automatically go through to the British Chambers of Commerce regional awards from where they could be go on to win a national award.
